((Nasser Al-Khelaifi)) responds to the possibility of Saudi Arabia participating in the Champions League

Nasser Al-Khelaifi, President of Paris Saint-Germain, President of the European Clubs Association, commented on the possibility of a Saudi team participating in the Champions League

Al-Khulaifi said, in statements highlighted by RMC Sport, "I do not think that there is a team that will participate in the Champions League from outside the continent of Europe."

He continued, "I do not know what will happen in the coming years, but today I do not think that the idea will be implemented."

On the other hand, Al-Khelaifi opened the door to creating a new tournament, saying, “If there is a Super Cup, or something like that, why not?”

He added at the conclusion of his statements, “But playing in a European championship, if you are not European, everyone knows that it will not be a preferable step.”

The Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport had caused an uproar in mid-August, with a plan to include the Saudi league champion in the Champions League.

This uproar coincided with the resounding deals concluded by Saudi clubs to attract a large number of European stars this summer

For his part, UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin denounced the policy of Saudi clubs in the transfer market, rejecting the principle of their participation in the Champions League.
